A year of events with The List by House Garden

As 2023 comes to a close we take a look back at the events we hosted for members of The List by House & Garden.

Petersham Nurseries

This year we had the pleasure of hosting two events at Richmond's Petersham Nurseries this year. The first was in the Spring when House & Garden's Garden Editor Clare Foster sat down with Thomas Broom-Hughes, Director of Horticulture at Petersham, to talk about growing flowers from seeds and Clare's book The Flower Garden.

In November we made our way back to Petersham to celebrate the launch of the 2024 edition of The List's printed directory. Hosted in Petersham's beautiful lifestyle shop, our guests indulged in a glass of Lalique champagne and a selection of delectable canapés as well as a browse through the shop's festive homewares.

A group of The List's members exploring Cromwell Place.

Cromwell Place

Set within five Grade II listed Victorian townhouses in South Kensington, Cromwell Place offers a year-round programme of diverse exhibitions and events across 14 gallery spaces. We had the pleasure of hosting an array of events with Cromwell Place this year including a couple that were hosted in conjunction with London Craft Week and London Design Festival's London Brompton Design District.

The other two events were with a few of Gray M.C.A's fabulous illustrators. In April Cromwell Place hosted our members for an intimate look into the creative process of fashion illustrator Bil Donovan through a live demonstration. Later in the year, Connie Gray from Gray M.C.A spoke with celebrated fashion artist David Downton. They discussed his fascinating career and the inspiration behind his latest exhibition Théâtre de la Mode.

Design Centre Chelsea Harbour

From Formed with Future Heritage to Artefact, WowHouse to Focus 23, our members enjoyed the very best of Design Centre Chelsea Harbour this year. With a curated private tour of each event, our guests were able to learn about each maker's work and find inspiration for their next project. A lovely breakfast spread from Social Pantry at The List's branded Cafe was the perfect way to network and finish off the day's activity.

A cushion in the making from Natasha Hulse's workshop with Blithfield and Wicklewood.

Cushion making with Blithfield, Wicklewood & Natasha Hulse

Blithfield and Wicklewood welcomed our members to a creative workshop, in collaboration with textile artist Natasha Hulse. Our members enjoyed a breakfast, where Natasha demonstrated how to appliqué a cushion. Then, using the iconic Blithfield and Wicklewood fabric, Natasha helped each guest create their own cushion to take home.

Herzog & de Meuron Exhibition at Royal Academy of Arts

Our members had the opportunity to enjoy a private preview of the Herzog & de Meuron exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. The exhibition looked behind the scenes of Herzog & de Meuron and featured 400 objects from the practice's design process.

The Picture Gallery x Anna Mason

Gini Temple, the founder of The Picture Gallery, hosted a private view of her exhibition of 20th-century paintings for our members at the Anna Mason Atelier in Belgravia. The morning began with a breakfast, where guests were able to peruse both the artwork and the clothing. Later on, Gini gave a talk about the gallery and its exhibition as well as some of her favourite tips for framing artwork.

A beautiful table with floral designs by Flur London and tableware from Maison Fete et Cie.

Westland x Maison Fête Dinner

Westland London hosted a gorgeous dinner to celebrate the launch of tableware brand Maison Fête et Cie's Annie Goblet. Our members had the opportunity to explore the Westland showroom, and later, try out the Annie Goblet while enjoying a three-course meal.

Chelsea Barracks

To coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show, The List hosted an event in collaboration with The Chelsea Barracks Spring Fair. Our members enjoyed a delectable selection of canapés and drinks while exploring Chelsea Barracks' beautiful grounds and the Spring Fair's Artisans’ Market, which featured an array of independent brands and handmade goods.

A view of the gardens at The Newt.

The Newt

This Spring we had the pleasure of taking a group of our members on The Newt in Somerset's coveted Great Garden Escape. Having boarded a First Class train from London Paddington, we arrived at The Newt and were given a tour of its picturesque gardens and a lesson in the art of cyder making. After a spot of lunch, we enjoyed a picturesque afternoon tea on our way back to the city, how divine!

The List NYC

Our team headed to New York to visit The List's American members and to celebrate the 2024 edition of the printed directory. The party was hosted at The Whitby Hotel, where guests were served a variety of lovely drinks and canapés, and had the opportunity to network with other members of the design industry.

VitrA

VitrA hosted a select group of our members in their Clerkenwell showroom for a festive Christmas diffuser workshop led by the team at Yougi Botanicals. While creating their diffuser, guests enjoyed nibbles and drinks, and after, were able to explore VitrA's modern and spacious showroom. Each guest got to take home their very own diffuser to enjoy throughout the holidays.
